Hi folks. I have Asus EEEPC 1000H. A few days ago I had to take my netbook to the store asking them to have a look on it as it did not work properly. They told me there was damage in harddrive, so the got me a new one. In the store they were also supposed to instal Win XP on the netbook. They said they have installed it, but it seems something must have been wrong with the installation. After bringing netbook back home and switching it on, I got something like: select a boot device and I could not get any further because could not use the arrow keys to move, so I cannot select drive C. It seems as the default device to boot from was set to usb flash drive. so I went to bios by pressing F2 and have tried to select C harddrive to boot first from after switching it on. Unfortunately nothing has changed. When I sent the netbook back to the store, they said everything was set correctly, but they might have had the flash drive plugged to the USB port and that’s why it was working at that time. So they sent it back to me telling me everything was ok and there was no need to reinstal.
I am getting tired of sending it to the store and they send it back to me without any change. It’s taking me too much time and money as I have to send it to another town. I need to have it up and running as soon as possible because I need my netbook for my classes. I would like to try reinstalling it with sighted help, but haven't had any experience with installing Windows XP on a Netbook. As the netbook doesn't have CD/DVD drive, I have to create a bootable flash drive. With Netbook I also got the-so-called recovery CD, but unfortunately did
not get any manual/text help how to use it or how to make a bootable flash drive. So I thought to ask you, can I use recovery cd to instal Windows on completely formatted harddrive or I can only use it with windows already installed? Does anyone know how to make a bootable flash drive to use files from the recovery CD? I really need step-by-step instructions if possible or at least advice where to ask. I’ve been browsing the net for quite long, but haven’t found anything useful. Sorry for that long post and I hope it does make sense. Your help would be very greatly appreciated. When you buy a product and you have problems with that product and you don't get that product repaired correctly after a few tries, you return that product, get your money back, and buy something that works. End of issue.
Yes, but the problem is I bought the product three years ago. I sent it to the store just to repair it.
Okay. If you can't get sighted help try Office Depot if you haven't already. I know its another store, but maybe you'll get your Netbook repaired correctly, or learn why it won't work correctly anymore. I'm assuming it worked fine up to a point, than something whent wrong to cause you this issue.
